Northeast B.C. Rig Report - July 11

The drilling fleet stayed steady in Northeast B.C. week over week, while three more rigs were put to work across Western Canada this week.

Thirteen drilling rigs were at work in Northeast B.C. this week, with 35 rigs down. Last year during the same week, 14 rigs were active.

This week, three contractors were at work, including Precision Drilling (7), Ensign Drilling (4), and Horizon Drilling (2).

  • Precision 379 is drilling for gas for Kelt Exploration at Oak. Spud was July 5.

  • Precision 465 is drilling for gas for ARC Resources at Doe. Spud was July 6.

  • Precision 533 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline Oil at Town. Spud was July 9.

  • Precision 538 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline Oil at Doe. Spud was July 3.

  • Precision 542 is drilling for gas for ARC Resources at Doe. Spud was July 8.

  • Precision 546 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline Oil at Town. Spud was July 3.

  • Precision 867 is drilling for oil for ConocoPhillips Canada at Inga. Spud was July 7.

  • Ensign 40 is drilling for gas for Painted Pony at Daiber. Spud was July 4.

  • Ensign 45 is drilling for gas for Encana at Sunrise. Spud was July 4.

  • Ensign 55 is drilling for gas for Encana at Sunrise. Spud was June 30.

  • Ensign 444 is moving in to Laprise to drill for gas for Saguaro Resources.

  • Horizon 41 is drilling for gas for Encana at Sunrise. Spud was July 7.

  • Horizon 55 is drilling for Kelt Exploration at Inga. Spud was June 15.

In Western Canada, 135 rigs are working out of 546, for a utilization rate of 25%, and up from last week when 132 rigs were active.

Alberta has 82 rigs working out of 387, for a utilization rate of 21%, and up from 78 rigs last week.

Saskatchewan has 37 rigs working out of 106, for a utilization rate of 35%, and down from 38 rigs last week.

There are three rigs active in Manitoba, and one in Ontario.

At this time last year, there were 226 rigs at work across Canada.
